As a fan of engines and fuel, I don't believe you can go wrong with an action film with car chasing sequences like the ones in 2 Fast 2 Furious. Like most summer blockbusters, critics might bash this film to surprise you. But the only thing that will take the wind out of your sails, is when you see this movie, you'll think to yourself (during the first action sequence) 'hey, this ain't bad!'
That's right, 2 Fast 2 Furious isn't all that bad even though it is not an Academy Award winner. But the real amazing qualities it possesses are the car sequences. The plot is not too weak but its a little flimsy.
The movie starts out with Tej (rapper Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges) organizing a drag race. Obviously, you can't have a drag race without Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) competing for thousands of bucks. It then bursts into an astonishing progression of car races and chases. O'Conner, a former police officer, was stripped of his badge when he let Dominic Toretto (played my Vin Diesel in The Fast and the Furious) go. When the cops pick up O'Conner for illegally racing, he is given a deal; either go to jail or help them catch Carter Verone (Cole Hauser) in the act of a crime. O'Conner agrees on one condition: he will only work with his old friend that he grew up with, Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson). O'Conner, Pearce, and a beautiful secret agent named Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes), go undercover to stop Verone in the midst of a crime.
I've always felt watching a movie in a dark theater, not worrying about anything but relaxing, was a great was to spend an hour and 40 minutes. This is the best 100 minutes I've spent in a while. If you don't like cars, go for Tyrese Gibson. He adds an amusing atmosphere as he plays a man on probation and living in a trailer parked in the lot of a pretty sad version of monster trucks. Humor, action, and romance is usually what people want to see in a movie. See all three in 2 Fast 2 Furious. It's worth the watch.
